Perhaps the lacuna we are missing to help curb post election violence is to:

1. Define what post elections violence is in our law books and explicitly make it an offense which carries a punitive measure .

2. We may have to in addition encourage people to report these incidents and fast track prosecutions.

3. It is also important to give the law enforcement agency a *character of neutrality or non partisan* so that all will totally support their effort to clamp down these infractions that threaten the peace and security we have.
