Mfantseman MP Gunned Down by Unknown Assailants in a Robbery Attack


News reaching us from the Central Region indicates that the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constitituency, Hon. Ekow Quansah Hayford, has been shot dead this morning in an area within his constituency.

The Member of Parliament is said to have been shot by an unknown gunmen whiles returning from a campaign at Nkusukum, on the Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road on Friday October 9, 2020, at exactly 1.00am this dawn.

The news of his sudden death has been confirmed by the First Vice Chairman for the NPP who’s know in the area as Wofa Yaw.

The late Hon. Ekow Quansah Hayford was shot right in his spinal cord, after resisting demands of the robbers.

According to the report, the Lawmaker was asked to get down from his vehicle by this group of assailants, suspected to be armed robbers who stopped him and his entourage on their way back to their various homes.

The Mfantseman Lawmaker and Candidate for the area on the ticket of NPP, met his untimely death amidst a tough campaign in preparation towards the upcoming December general elections.

Report from an eyewitness also indicated that the late Hon. Quansah Hayford, upon seeing the robbers, couldn’t keep his identity from them and introduced himself as the MP for the area, whiles robbery was ongoing.

This, according to the eyewitness, infuriated the robbers to blame him for the their woes and problems being faced by the people of the country, hence the reason for his untimely death.

The body is said to have been deposited to the Saltpond Hospital Mortuary, whiles police begins with their investigations into the matter.
