Offinso Residents threaten to vote ‘Skirt and Blouse’, if MP is declared Unopposed
The Krontihene of Offinso-Abofour, Nana Osei Darko, has warned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, to rescind decision on allowing the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso- South to stand unopposed in the upcoming primaries of the NPP.
Led by the Krontihene of Offinso-Abofour, residents and youth numbered over Two Hundred called on the party executives to provide equal platform for members in their upcoming primaries, without declaring Hon. Ben Abdullah Banda unopposed.
This was said in a press conference held on Thursday at Offinso-Kokote, in the Offinso South municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Nana Osei Darko, also accused Hon. Abdallah Banda, for not involving chiefs of the area in his administration, which has somehow slowed development in Offinso South Constituency.
In that regard, the Chiefs and people of Offinso South are threatening to vote ‘Skirt and Blouse’ to deprive Hon. Abdallah Banda, of representing them in the next general elections.
In a sideline interaction with one of the organizers of the press conference, Mr Osei Kwamena, said he has received information that the Ashanti Regional Chairman has declared all Ashanti NPP MPs unopposed, including their 3-termed Member of Parliament, Hon. Ben Abdallah Banda, who doubles as chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.
According to them, Wontumi, has no right to declare incumbent MPs unopposed in the upcoming party Parliamentary Primaries, especially the incumbent Member for Offinso South Constituency .
They described the MP as total failure for the snail paced development of the past 12-years in office of NPP’s strong holds.
