Vigilantism Will Have No Place in Ghana Henceforth – Police Assure


The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Akwasi Mensah Duku has assured populace in the region of effective security.

The Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the West Africa Security Service Association (WASSA), had the annual celebration at the forecourt of the Regional Police Headquarters in Kumasi.

The theme for the celebration was “Consolidating Ideas against Vigilantism for Ghana Safety”.

Presents were; Otumfour Apegyahene, Nana Owusu Afriyie (Chairman of the occasion), Kumasi Mayor Osei Assibey Antwi, the President of Breast Care International (BCI), Madam Beatrice Wiafe Addai and many other dignitaries.

Speaking in a sideline interview with NEWSLINEGH.COM, DCOP Akwasi Mensah stated that, security situation in the region is good but as the saying goes, ‘Oliver Twist’ which implies citizens will always ask for more from the security agencies.

He said, the regional command is up on toes and will not relent on their efforts to hunt criminals.

He added that, very soon the region will become unpleasant for people with bad intentions to find themselves in.

He stressed that the command will make sure they have outing strong and strict security measures in place to curd the menace of insecurity.

Touching on vigilantism in the country, Mr. Duku iterated that, the police needs stakeholders effort to bury the peril.

He further added by saying the police with their intelligence and strategies will see to it that, vigilantism will have no space to operate in the country.

“Security is a share responsibility, we need stakeholders effort to burn the menace”, he added.
