Stop Your Populism- MP Blasts Ras Mubarak
Member of Parliament for Manso Adubia, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, has bashed Kumbungu Member of Parliament over what he describes as inciting the public against Parliament.
According to the Manso Adubia legislator, Hon. Ras Mubarak is engaging in populist politics with parliamentary affairs.
The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Hon. Ras Mubarak, has expressed concern over the construction of the new Parliamentary Chamber set to be constructed before the end of 2019.
Mr. Mubarak, said the country cannot afford the new chamber.
The construction of the new parliamentary chamber was disclosed when members of the Parliamentary Service Board, received a model for the proposed new Chamber last Friday.
Clarifying his point to the press, Hon. Ras Mubarak, said Parliament needs to focus on the more pressing issues affecting Ghanaians.
“Ghana clearly does not need a 450 member chamber. The expenditure cannot be justified. A country as small as Ghana should not be entertaining the thoughts of having a 450-member chamber.
Yes indeed, democracy is expensive, but we must not make it too expensive. Currently, there are many issues at the top of the minds of our constituents. Water, road, electricity, schools, you name it”. The Kumbungu lawmaker indicated.
Hon. Yaw Frimpong, commenting on his colleague statement on a Kumasi based Solid Fm, monitored by NEWSLINEGH.COM, he described Hon. Ras Mubarak, as hypocrite.
He said the Kumbungu Member of Parliament only want to be empathized by the citizens in order to score political point out of his irrelevant comments on issues like this.
Reiterating that, Member of Parliament shouldn’t confront parliamentary issues in public like that.
To him, Hon. Ras Mubarak, has every right to put down his qualms on the floor of Parliament when the issue popped up, rather than jumping into conclusion on public domain for favour.
He has since urged his colleague to be circumspect with his utterances on parliamentary affairs, before commenting to avoid wrong perception about the noble house, and also entreated the general public to disregard the comment by his colleague.
