10 More Students to Benefit from Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II Education Fund-Berekusuhene
The Founder of Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II Education Fund and Chief of Berekuso, Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II, has disclosed measures put in place by the Board of Trustees and Management of the Fund to provide education to the needy, but brilliant student and to raise the standard of every school going child in the Berekusu community.
Nana Oteng Korankye revealed that, apart from the best 11 pupils from the Seven (7) Basic schools that the fund had already supported in the area, Ten (10) more students are set to benefit this year.
According to Odeefoo, by supporting school going children in the community with the requisite study materials and other financial assistance, these children would not only be able to equip themselves, but would also be able to have direction in life and also become responsible citizens to support national development.
He however commended the board of Trustees and management of the fund for their contributions and commitment to making events of the fund a success, and also called on individuals and Stakeholders to come on board for a good course of investing in the education of our future leaders.
Raising funds to support needy but brilliant students in Berekusu at the 2018 Stakeholder and Fund Raising Event of the Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II Education Fund at Ashesi University campus, Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II made this passionate appeal.
Speaking at the event on the progress report on the fund, the Board Chair of the Odeefo Oteng Korankye II Education Fund, Mrs. Rebecca Awuah also revealed that, the fund hopes to put an ICT facility and other educational facilities to facilitate effective teaching and learning in the community.
According to Mrs. Awuah, the medium and long-term objective of the fund is to secure scholarship for technical and vocational training.
“The fund supported the best 11 pupils from the seven basic schools in the area in the 2017 academic year, and 10 more will benefit this year”. She indicated.
Guest Speaker at the 2018 Stakeholder and Fundraising event of the Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II Educational Fund, Prof. Stephen Adei in delivering his keynote address indicated that, such initiatives like the Odeefoo Oteng Korankye II Educational Fund will go a long way to assist the government’s effort in providing better education for Ghanaians.
He lauded Odeefo Oteng Korankye II for putting the education fund in place to support pupils in Berekusu and also called on Ghanaians to rally behind him and emulate.
He therefore commended President Akufo Addo for introducing the Free SHS Policy to help increase enrollment at the pre-tertiary level, and also called on the government to make the basic education effective since is the grassroot of education.
This year’s Stakeholder and Fund Raising event had in attendance of traditional leaders and Chiefs of the Akuapem traditional area, including the Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the Ga East Municipal Assembly, Janet Tulasi Mensah.
Other dignitaries at this colourful event were the Chief of Kitase-Mpeaduase, Oyeman Nana Kwasi Ankrah II, Gospel Musicians in the likes of Great Ampong, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, Joyce Blessing and the Berekusu SDA singers, as well as former District Chief Executive of the Akuapem-South District, Afari Djan, were all there to grace the event.
