Accra-Mpakadan railway line to be completed in March 2020 – Hon.Joe Ghartey
The Minister for Railway Development, Hon. Joe Ghartey has hinted that all things being equal, the Accra to Mpakadan railway line would be completed latest by March 2020.
Addressing the media on Wednesday at Odumase Krobo, after paying a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Manya Krobo, Nene Sakite II, the Railway Minister said the project was initially Tema-Akosombo, but the Ministry later realized it couldn’t be possible and so changed the design to cover Tema-Mpakadan instead.
The visit formed part of the Minister’s tour to the Eastern Region and the Shai Hills to ascertain the development so far on the Tema-Mpakadan line.
According to Hon. Joe Ghartey, there is a community-based railway development programme which would factor the youth of the Krobo area as labour for the construction of the line to make some income for themselves.
He assured that all compensation issues are being considered and that, he believed there would not be any challenge.
