The Network for ASSIN Development is calling on the government as a matter of urgency, to sack all head teachers of both Basic and Senior High Schools on Assin Land for failing to give the students proper sex education.

According to the group, their failure to educate these students on premarital sex has contributed to a surge on teenage pregnancy in the area, leading to the rampant school dropouts.

The Network for Assin Development also bemoaned the poor performance of teachers in the various schools, hence the need to be sacked for failing the youth and the people of Assin woefully.

“Because we believed it is important for schools to grow the habit of giving sex education to teenagers to reduce high birth.

We are calling on all the stakeholders including DCE, MCE, and Gender Minister to collaborate effectively to enact laws which will regulate irresponsible parenting”. They stressed.

The Network is also calling on opinion leaders and faith-based Organisations to help reduce the high rate of teenage pregnancy in Assin.

Parents who fail to take proper care of their wards, they said, must be arrested.
