The Mankranso Forestry Commissioner in the Ashanti region, Mr. Rexford Twum Damoah, has cautioned illegal farmers and encroachers on the unlawful invasion of forest reserves.
He revealed this to Newslinegh.com reporter today, in an interview, stating that, illegal farmers have invaded the plantation reserve, causing harm than good , although its outfit has prosecuted some of the offenders.
He continued that, the office has instituted measures to curb the circumstances, but also need support of the infringe communities to help deal lawfully with these encroachers.
He chide individuals who will be found culprit, bemoaned perpetrators to refrain from the unlawful acts and also appealing to the chiefs and the district assembly to engaged the residents in a sensitized educational program, to help prevent the unpatriotic behaviour.
“District assembly cum local authorities must aid in sensitisations program to educate their residents and infringe Communities to abstain from land degradation and charcoal burning in the reserved”. He lamented.
He concluded that, the reserved provides shade and conducive environment for human being, therefore, calling on the police, media as well as the law court to be proactive in dealing with people who will be found guilty and as to also educate them.
