“If Former President John Dramani Mahama doesn’t contest for the 2020 elections, then I’m more than poised to contest any candidate from the party, as flag bearer for the National Democratic Congress . The Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo Constituency, Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has declared.

The Former Sports Minister made this declaration last Saturday April, 29, in an interview with Kweku on Starr Radio (UK), when queried on his choice of Candidate for elections 2020.

According to Hon. Vanderpuye, what called for this brave and insightful decision was for the fact that, detractors of the party especially their opponents and some weak members of the party are doing everything to make Former President Mahama the sacrificial lamb by blaming him, obviously tells how redundant and unattractive they intend to make him look.

“As a faithful Akatamansonia and politically matured, I believe l also have the right to contest anyone in the party, that’s if John Mahama doesn’t contest. If they think John Mahama is not the best candidate, then I won’t think twice to also contest anyone. He declared.

“We must stop blaming Former President Mahama for everything that went wrong with the party. If it were only with JM’s performance and leadership, I bet the world can attest to his leadership and governance.

“If the NDC has lost elections and so all blame must be shifted on John Mahama by trying so hard to discredit his candidature all because he led the party, then I think we have not been fair to ourselves at all”. Hon. Vanderpuye emphasized.

“We over used, stressed and exhausted him during the campaign through to the elections, he said, yet JM never gave up on the party and keeps making us proud, though we sit here pointing fingers at him for a mistake we all made”.

“If John Mahama is contesting, the NDC will win hands down, I believe in his abilities and capabilities. He’s sure the best recipe for elections and NDC’s victory in 2020. But if he is not contesting, then it means anybody in the party is qualified to contest as well as myself”.

“Former President John Dramani Mahama is the only and the best candidate I will never contest” He reiterated.
