In most cases, during raining seasons majority of Ghanaians faces problem of uncontrollable floods, which normally destroy worth of properties.

The Atwima Nwabiagya district Engineer,  Mr. Emmanuel Tetteh has stated clearly that, human activities are the major cause of these disasters.

He disclosed this to Newslinegh.com, adding that, some chiefs deliberately sell lands around river banks and buffer areas to people for buildings which has caused consistent flooding in the country.

“Some people ignorantly purchase lands within buffer areas, and later gives them severe problems during rainy seasons”. He lamented.

Dliberate actions of such, he said, even becomes a burden to the district ,calling on individuals who have been engaged in those acts to desist from it.

Adding that, upon education people would get to understand the effects of building around river banks and buffer areas, he’s therefore urging them to put a stop to such and, and should ensure their houses are not built near rivers and water logged areas.
