Mr. Akwasi Nimo, an Educationalist, has advised the government to institute immediate measures and plans to revert the duration of Senior High School (SHS) education to 4years.
This, he noted would give students and teachers ample time to assimilate the subjects.
He indicated that teachers hardly complete the syllabus – forcing them to resort to other dubious means of passing their examinations.
He made this humble submission in an interview with this Reporter in Kumasi.
The Educationalist also asked the Ghana Education Service (GES) to limit the number of subjects studied by JHS and SHS students.
“The subjects are simply too many for the kids to absorb at this tender age. Are we punishing or helping them.” He asked.
According to him, students must be allowed to specialize in their areas of interest and competence to enable them move to the zenith of their lives.
He therefore encouraged the GES to strengthen its supervision especially private schools to maintain quality standards at all times.
