Road transport fares surge;takes effect on Thursday by 15%


Ghanaian commuters will on Thursday, experience a surge in road transport fares by 15per cent.

This 15% new fares take effect from Thursday, April 6, according to a release issued on Monday April 3,  from the Road Transport Operators.

According to the statement, this increase of transport fare is in line with the administrative instrument on public transport fares.

The upward review of fares which is the first in 2017, covers intra-city, inter city and taxi operations.

The release which is asking members to post the fares at their terminals and possible in  their vehicles “to avoid confrontation with travellers, was jointly signed by representatives of the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU) and Ghana Roads Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC).
