Report any driver who illegally increases transport fare-Chairman

Recently some public transport users (passengers) have been experiencing a little increment in their normal transportation fares.

This has resulted into numerous misunderstanding between passengers and conductors (Mate) almost everyday for the past two weeks.

In a view of this one of the chairmen of Sofoline Transport Terminal, Mr. Julius Caesar has sent a strong warning to driverd and some transport unions to desist from the illegal charges and increment of fares (TnT) and has therefore advised all passengers to report any driver found in the act to the police.

In an interview, he (Chairman) expressed his worries on the recent situation of illegal increment of transport fares that, there hasn’t been any instructions from head office of the GPRTU to increase transportation fares.
Addressing the situation he said, all the Transport Unions in Ghana have setup a coordinating council which is still in dialogs with the Transport Ministry on how to go about the transportation fares.

The “deregulation” method introduced by the previous government whereby fuel prices moves up little by little above 1% didn’t help drivers at all, he lamented

Furthermore he divulged to this Reporter that, after series of dialog meetings with transport ministry indicates that the government is going to reduce fuel prices drastically and if possible there will be decrement in transportation fare.

Finally he impelled police to assist the public (passengers) to get raid of these unauthorized driver unions and roadside drivers.
