A renowned Muslim leader in the Ashanti region, the Zongohene of Mpasatia, a suburb of Kumasi has attributed the increasing rate of suicide cases to the use of technology especially the social media , stating that, the rampant usage of social media is the major cause of suicidal booming in the country.

In an interview with Newslinegh Reporter, Chief Abdullai Mohammed emphasized that, parents and guidance must be vigilant as to how their wards keep chatting on social media , watching unnecessary movies and pictures.

He added that, although he could admit politicians and blood suckers can also be blamed for the act , but urged parents to be careful and advice their wards on the usage of their phones and attendance to internet cafe ,which could even lead to internet fraud and scamming.
