As part of the “Toaso” promo by President John Mahama and the NDC’s social responsibility of providing Infrastructural developments, Honourable Member of Parliament for the Odododiodioo Constituency Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has officially cut sod for the re-construction of the Salaga market to commence project.

This sod cutting ceremony which took place right after a health walk led by Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, MP for the constituency to warm up his constituents towards the elections, were also in attendance by some party bigwigs like the General Secretary of NDC Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah, Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, Accra Mayor, also Parliamentary Candidate for the Ablekuma South Constituency Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuijie and other important dignitaries of the party.

According to the Managing Director of the Construction firm, Excellence Builders Mr. Haidar Said, the total reconstruction of the Salaga market project is one of six projects which was proposed by the AMA and must say that Ghanaians should be very proud of the rebuild of Salaga market because it is the very first project that Excellence Builders are cutting Sod on.

“And this is mainly due to the follow up of Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye who happens to be the MP for the Odododiodioo Constituency and of course a great support from the Accra Mayor Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuijie”. He disclosed.

“Potentially we have up to Thousand Two Hundred (1200 ) Shops in addition to other areas on the ground floor and this very project frame is scheduled just within a year, if we get the full support of the President and that of the people of this constituency”. He stated.

With measures of safety, He said, they we have constructed temporary sheds at the London Market for traders and squatters to receive shelter .We constructed four sheds and more are yet to be constructed, but we will need the support of the traders here, after all it’s all to their benefits.

“The contract which was initiated by SSNIT, AMA and Excellence Builders Contractors is budgeted to a tune of $5million dollars, though construction could be less or more depending on the variations that the AMA is going to request”.

According to Mr. Said, there are other safety measures to also ensure that every person on the site and outside is protected from the contraction work with holdings, due to the fact that the project requires heavy duty machineries.

“This is actually the first project and many more will follow which has been planned for the city of Accra. We have proposed plan by the AMA to modify it and make sure that we keep the same level of buildup area”. He emphasized.

Excellence builders, is a Ghanaian company which partners with an International firm. “The sooner they can clean up the place for the people to move out, the sooner the project can start and be completed, because any delay in taking over the site leads to a delay in executing the job. Mr. Said assures.
