Ghanaian scholarship students in Russia cry over unpaid stipends

Hundreds of Ghanaian students on scholarship in Russia are uncertain about their future in the Eastern European Country, as they cry over the government of Ghana’s inability to pay their stipends.

They are reportedly facing deportation due to delays in the payment of their monthly allowances.

They claim the situation has affected their studies, accommodation and utility needs.

Some of the frustrated students who spoke to Starr News from their base in Russia said they have been left with no option than to clean their hostels to make money for food.

They claim that the Government of Ghana has not paid their stipends over the past four months.

A student who spoke to on condition of anonymity said currently, in a climate of negative 23 degrees Celsius, these stranded students have been left at the mercy of the harsh weather conditions without food, winter coats and boots.
